HMAAC X AFROTECH: Black to the Future, Ancestral Algorithms 🌍✨

A 2-Hour Event on Ethical AI in Black American & African Art and Museum Practice. AfroTech Official Event Partner.

The ancestors kept the receipts. Now the robots are reading them. 👀

AI is already in the museum: scanning archives, writing catalog descriptions, generating images of us. So who’s teaching it our story? Pull up and let’s talk about it!

🖼️ THE DEMO STATIONS
Start the night hands-on. See AI at its worst and its best, side by side:
→ Would You Sell Your Style? AI image generation & artists’ rights
→ Who Gets to See It? Digitized collections & community consent
→ Who Do You Trust With the Archive? AI cataloging & descriptive language

🎤 THE PANEL: “Whose Story, Whose Algorithm?”

→ Byron Canady, M.S., Educator & Founder of Gulf Coast Cosmos Comics
→ Jillian Simpson, Chief Administrative Officer, HMAAC
→ Tricia Vincent, AI Consultant and Founder of Influence Ops AI
→ Evelyn Davis, Archivist III, African American History Research Center
→ Makaela Reed, Moderator & HMAAC Social Media Manager

No snooze-fest here. Live polls, a hot seat, and a rapid-fire round where every panelist drops one ethics rule you can actually use. 🔥

📜 THE TAKEAWAY
Everyone leaves with a one-page AI ethics guide. Screenshot-worthy, share-worthy.

💡 FOR: artists, techies, creatives, museum folks, students, culture keepers, and anyone who’s ever asked “wait, who trained this thing?”
