Heyyy Everyoneee! :) My name is Sunaé, pronounced Sun-nae, and I am the Program Director of Craft & Convos- a community-based workshop series I designed that centers storytelling, identity, and self-expression through collaborative painting and up-cycling projects for youth and adults! My background in fine art, teaching, and passion for programming led me here today!

In collaboration with For Struggling Creatives, 17ft. box truck mobile studio, called the Creative Space, and Neighborly Events gallery, we are excited to bring to you an expressive experience: Craft & Convos: Neighborly Portraits!

This hands-on workshop invites youth and adults to explore their cultural identity and personal expression through abstract portraiture. Using vibrant construction paper, participants will cut and layer shapes to form imaginative, expressive portraits that reflect who they are and where they’re from. This is a celebration of community through color, form, and freedom of expression. No drawing experience needed—just your story and your creativity.

Together, we'll embrace the beauty and diversity of our community by crafting portraits and shapes of significant buildings that speak volumes through bold color choices, personalized accessories, and unique shapes. This workshop honors the individuality within our collective communities, encouraging meaningful reflection, conversation, and joy.

All creative materials are included in your ticket purchase, and of course, you get to keep all the art you create!

Materials List:

Multi-color construction paper (assorted skin tones + bright colors)
Safety scissors (for kids and adults)
Glue sticks (lots of them)
Large paper or cardstock backing for portraits
