Another Thursday - another Summer night of dancing and sweating together under the big Texas sky together. This week is extra special to us because it highlights a genre near and dear to our heart and our mission - HOUSE.

The disco era was a cultural phenomenon characterized by vibrant, pulsating dance music, extravagant fashion, and a celebration of diversity. Disco clubs were places where people from all walks of life, irrespective of race, gender, or sexual orientation, gathered to dance and celebrate. House music's connection to disco roots is clear in its evolution and cultural impact. It emerged from disco's transformation into a more mechanical and beat-driven form. Rooted in Chicago's underground clubs and deeply connected to black and LGBTQ+ communities, House music carried on the legacy of unity -celebrating diversity and countering resistance on the dance floor.

This is why House is so significant in multi-generational, inclusive dance spaces and it's a fundamental genre in our series every year. This week, we have a San Antonio showcase of some of the best House music DJs in the city. Local House music collective, HOUSE ARREST is taking over the decks and bringing a whole crew to play house anthems all night long. Free House music in parks around Brooklyn were the inspiration for Disco Al Fresco over 10 years ago so we're taking a journey back to where it all began. We hope you'll come along for the ride.

About HOUSE ARREST.

House Arrest is a prominent underground house and dance music collective and event series in San Antonio, Texas, founded by DJ and producer Edward Silva, also known as LZRCAT. It was launched during the pandemic as a home-streaming project and has since grown into a celebrated, inclusive staple of the local music scene. The collective is built for music enthusiasts and dancers, promoting a pure, honest house music environment without VIP culture or distractions.

Sound Cream Airstream has been helping people dance outside for nine years with the help of their big, shiny Airstream DJ booth dripping in disco lights, world class DJS, and BIG sound.

This event is part of a Summer dance party series happening every every Thursday night in June and July at the Sunken Garden Theater. Each Thursday is a different vibe that showcases DJs from around Texas and music from around the globe.
