Matchmaking
At 8:30 PM, Google Form Matchmaking Cards will be released to allow everyone time to mingle first.
To participate, you must:
• Be present at 8:30 PM
• Complete the Google Form, confirming that you’re comfortable sharing your phone number, email, and (if applicable) Instagram handle with mutual matches.
Participation is optional—if you’d rather not share contact info, you can still enjoy the event and give feedback without joining the matchmaking portion.

Refunds
Tickets are non-refundable.
If needed, you may transfer your ticket to another guest through Posh VIP.

Screw the Apps: A 21+ Dating Mixer in Portland, Maine

We are all tired of dating apps, which is why two of Portland’s most established and successful dating groups are coming together to host the biggest dating mixer of 2025.

Hosted by Portland Maine Singles and The Bug Club of Maine, Screw the Apps is a 21+ dating mixer for people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.

We understand that dating mixers can feel intimidating. Maybe you have been to one before where the group felt too small, the ages were not aligned, or the gender ratio was off. This event is being designed for success, and here is how we are making it different.

What Makes This Event Special

Personalized Name Tags
Every attendee will receive a name tag with their name, age, and top five interests. You will fill this out at check-in. This makes conversations natural and easy because you will see mutual interests right away. You can also immediately identify people in your preferred age group.

Games and Activities
Instead of being stuck in small talk, you will have opportunities to join fun games at several tables throughout Bayside Bowl. These activities make it easier to relax, connect, and enjoy yourself.

Complete Transparency
Buying a ticket without knowing what to expect can feel stressful. That is why we are providing full visibility. Our ticketing platform (Posh) will display the total number of attendees. In addition, we will post weekly updates on Instagram showing how many people are attending in each age group and what the gender balance looks like.

Current Sign-Ups by Age Group:

Ages 21–29: 21 men | 25 women
Ages 30–39: 29 men | 55 women
Ages 40+: 14 men | 17 women

Plus one non-binary person registered in each age group.

We are advertising through local businesses, social media ads, and community partners, and we want to hit over 200 people!

The Match Card System

At the end of the night, you’ll receive a QR code to scan on your phone. From there, you can share event feedback and fill out a digital match card. Simply mark the people you’d like to connect with—if they choose you too, we’ll share each other’s contact information after the event.

You’re always welcome to ask for numbers during the mixer, but this system takes the pressure off and provides a safe, simple backup for making connections.

Event Details

Tickets are $20 per person. Each ticket includes one free drink, your choice of beer, wine, cocktail, or a mocktail.

It is time to screw the apps and make real connections in real life.

There are no refunds for this event if you can't make it. Posh VIP allows ticket transfers so you are welcome to transfer your ticket to someone who can make it.
