About this event

Join Surroundings for an intimate Field Study inside Building 86, R & Company’s Brooklyn Navy Yard space.

Founded in 1997 by Zesty Meyers and Evan Snyderman, R & Company has played a defining role in collectible design, championing historical and contemporary work across furniture, lighting, objects, and craft.

For decades, Building 86 served as part of the gallery’s behind-the-scenes infrastructure, where objects, furniture, and archival material accumulated. Now newly opened by appointment, the 16,000-square-foot space offers access to the depth of R & Company’s collection through evolving vignettes and works rarely seen outside the traditional showroom.

Led by R & Company co-founder Zesty Meyers, this Field Study will offer a rare look at how objects are found, collected, contextualized, and brought into the gallery’s world. The evening will trace the stories behind nearly three decades of discoveries.

The event will include a guided after-hours tour through Building 86, a live conversation with Zesty, and a curated wine program.

Important Notes:

The event will take place at Building 86 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Arrival instructions will be provided ahead of the visit.
