The Mat & the Mug is a weekly morning gathering at Civic on 8th where movement, conversation, and community come together to support your well-being.

Whether you're looking to reconnect with your body, meet new people, or simply slow down before the day begins, this space is for you.

The Mat

We'll begin by arriving together before moving through a 45-minute all-levels yoga practice designed to help you feel more grounded, present, and connected. No experience is necessary—just bring yourself.

The Mug

After class, enjoy a discounted beverage from Civic on 8th and stay for conversation. This isn't networking or small talk—it's an opportunity to connect with others through vibes, shared experiences, and curiosity. Some mornings you'll stay for a few minutes, other mornings you'll find yourself lingering a little longer.

Stay for the Morning

Bring your laptop, read a book, catch up with a friend, or simply enjoy your coffee before heading into the rest of your day. Stay as long as you'd like.

Meet Fela

Felicia "Fela" Taliaferro is a yoga therapist, well-being facilitator, and community builder who creates spaces where people can reconnect with themselves and each other.

As defined by the International Association of Yoga Therapists, yoga therapy is "the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga." Through movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and nervous system support, Fela helps people cultivate greater awareness, resilience, and connection—in their bodies and in their lives.
