How Posh Payouts, Payments, Refunds, and Security Work: Timing, Fees, and Chargebacks Explained

Posh pays you from your first ticket sold. Your money is not "pending" because of Posh. It is pending because card networks take two business days to settle. After that, it is yours on your schedule.

This is the plain-language version of how money moves on Posh: when ticket revenue becomes available, how and how fast you can withdraw it, what refunds and chargebacks cost, who processes the payments, and what Posh does to protect your revenue. Every number below comes from Posh's own help documentation, so you can plan a budget around it.

When Do I Get Paid on Posh?

Posh pays you from your first ticket sold. You can withdraw ticket revenue as it sells, before the event, on a Daily or Manual schedule. Each sale lands in your Posh balance as Pending, moves to Available within 24 to 48 business hours once the card networks settle it, and from there you choose how to send it to your bank. There is no waiting for the event to end, which is the main difference from Eventbrite, Partiful, and DICE, all of which pay after the event by default.

How Fast Is a Posh Payout?

Standard payouts are free and reach your checking account by ACH in 3 to 5 business days. Instant Payout sends settled funds to an eligible bank account in real time, usually seconds, for a flat 5% fee; it is available once your organization has processed $2,000 in lifetime sales, and it only draws from your Instant Available balance. Requests made outside business hours or on holidays process the next business day.

Who Processes Payments on Posh?

Stripe. Posh uses Stripe as its payment processing partner, so to receive funds you complete a one-time Stripe onboarding inside the Posh Finance page: legal business type, business details, a government photo ID for the account representative, and a checking account whose name matches your legal or company name. Approvals are often instant and can take a few business days when documents need manual review. Debit cards and prepaid accounts cannot receive payouts.

What Does Posh Charge?

A flat 10% + $0.99 per paid ticket, all-in. Payment processing is included in that number rather than billed as a separate percentage per order, and you choose at setup whether the buyer pays the fee at checkout or you absorb it in the ticket price. Instant Payout is the only other charge, and it is optional.

How Do Refunds Work on Posh?

You issue full or partial refunds from the Orders tab, and the money returns to the buyer's original payment method. Choosing Refund and Relist puts the ticket back on sale; Refund and Cancel removes it from inventory. The buyer's QR code is invalidated the instant the refund is confirmed, so a refunded ticket cannot be used at the door. Payment processing fees on a paid transaction are not refunded, and refunds draw from your Available balance, so a refund can fail with an insufficient-funds message if you have already withdrawn everything while new sales are still pending. There is no non-refundable toggle; state a no-refund policy in the ticket description and event terms if you need one.

What Happens If a Guest Files a Chargeback?

The card network charges a $15 dispute fee up front, and the outcome decides who pays it. If you win or the guest drops the claim, Posh covers the $15 and you keep 100% of the ticket revenue. If you lose, the ticket amount plus the $15 comes out of your Posh balance, and if the balance is empty, Stripe draws the difference from your linked bank account. Posh gives you a Disputes dashboard inside Orders to upload evidence, track status through Needs Response, Under Review, Won, and Lost, see your dispute rate and common reasons, and block attendees who abuse chargebacks from buying tickets to your future events.

How Does Posh Protect Organizer Revenue?

Four ways. Identity and bank verification through Stripe before any payout can leave the platform. A clear statement descriptor you set during onboarding so guests recognize the charge and don't dispute it by mistake. A disputes workspace with a built-in resolution guide so your evidence matches what card-issuing banks look for. And an attendee block list, so a repeat offender cannot buy from you again, with or without an open dispute.

How Does Posh Protect Buyers' Payment Data?

Checkout runs inside a Posh-hosted payment frame processed by Stripe, and organizers cannot inject custom scripts into it. Posh does not support Google Tag Manager or third-party tracking scripts in checkout; only the Meta Pixel ID and Conversions API token you enter in the Marketing tab are allowed, and the Conversions API token is kept server-side and never exposed in page source. That restriction exists to keep the checkout funnel free of unvetted code.

What About Taxes?

Posh provides 1099-K tax reporting for US organizers who meet the reporting thresholds, and your Finance page is where the figures come from. Keep your legal entity type and Tax ID accurate during onboarding so the form matches your records.

FAQ

Why is my payout disabled? Usually one of three things: Stripe onboarding isn't finished, a document or bank name didn't match your entity, or you are a new account that hasn't sold a ticket yet. The first sale triggers Stripe's verification review, and payouts unlock after it.

Can I speed up pending funds? No. The 24 to 48 business hour settlement window is set by the card networks. Instant Payout works around it by drawing from your Instant Available balance for a 5% fee.

Does Posh hold a reserve on my sales? No. Beyond the card settlement window, Posh does not hold back a percentage of sales. DICE's published terms allow a 5% hold for six months; Eventbrite's pre-event payouts carry reserve conditions.

What if a bank transfer fails? Stripe reverses it and the money returns to your Posh Available balance, where you can fix the bank details and send it again.

Can a team member see my finances? Only if you give them the Finance tab permission. Door staff using a Scanner PIN never see financial data.

Can Posh Help?

If you have ever fronted a venue deposit while your ticket money sat with a platform until after the event, this is the part of Posh to look at: revenue available within two business days, free payouts on your schedule, an instant option when you need it, and a disputes system that pays the fee when you win. Setup takes under 2 minutes, and the fee is 10% + $0.99 all-in.
